What's going on?

They ride BIKES, don't they?

If you've never raced in the Midwestern mud, you're not missing much.

It's not that messy, splashy stuff that makes stuff slick, but isn't much more than a nuisance. It's a wet concrete, pasty, glue-like mess that finds a way to stick to everything, making your bike weigh like 75 pounds. I wound up carrying it most of the 11 or so miles, but managed to do that faster than the other women. AND the day gave me an idea or two that I might make out of clay. (Where did THAT idea come from?) Win-win!

bone bender in the mud 09 1

Starting off 2009

Had to run about four miles before racing the mountain bike about 11, but that's what the duathlon called for.

It worked out pretty well, won my class and the overall.

Won another series!

Won the season finale, and series overall in my class the other day, and also finished third in the class I'm moving up to from now on. Tried to go in the singlespeed race after the first two, but didn't have a bike that fit well enough. Next time!

Seems like mountain bike season is right around the corner, so I might jump back into that again.

Series champion

Won all three in a local series; the finale was yesterday. Stopped wearing black, black and black, thanks to Twin Six. Thanks, Twin Six! Two more races this week, so we'll see.

Cyclocross nationals

Finished on the lead lap at nationals, which is what I was hoping for.

Got brass, in pocket

Brass rings are looking real good now, so there's another choice for you. They're a bit narrower than the silver rings, in case that sort of thing bothers you. I'll get photos up in a day or two showing the difference. Oxide looks real good on these rings, too; it fills in the lettering and really makes it stand out. And since brass is a bit less costly than silver, they're just $22 for rings!

Mud, snow and cold

A category win in a KC cyclocross series over the weekend. Looking like CX weather around here now.

More cyclocross

A category second at the state championships the other day.

Brass is working well

I'm pretty happy with the way brass rings are turning out. I'll add that to the ordering options in a day or two, but keep in mind you can choose that now, anyway. Just let me know!

It's cyclocross season!

I'll be racing at the US National Cyclocross Championships in Kansas City, MO, in December. On a bike with gears, though!
